Truman D. Picard Scholarship for Native American and Alaska Native Students
The Intertribal Timber Council (ITC) is now accepting applications for the Truman D. Picard Scholarship, dedicated to supporting Native American and Alaska Native students pursuing higher education in Natural Resources, Forestry, or Fire Management.
Scholarship Awards

$4,000 – For college students, graduate students, and graduating college seniors applying or accepted into graduate school in Forestry or Fire.

$3,000 – For college students, graduate students, and graduating college seniors applying or accepted into graduate school in Natural Resources.

$2,000 – For graduating high school seniors studying Natural Resources, Forestry, or Fire.
Deadline: Friday, March 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time
Applicants must be enrolled full-time — at least 12 credits for undergraduates or 6 credits for graduate students.

Financial Aid Agreements
Recipients of the ITC Truman D. Picard Scholarship may also qualify for additional tuition waivers through cooperative financial aid agreements with:

About Truman D. Picard
The scholarship honors Truman D. Picard (1946–1986), a dedicated Colville Tribal Forester and ITC Board member (1982–1985). His work bridged BIA Forestry and Colville Tribal Forestry in a lifelong effort to improve forest management on the reservation — leaving behind a lasting legacy of education, leadership, and service to his community.
