Science Workshop at Blackfeet Community College: Immunofluorescence and Trails to Research Program
Blackfeet Community College is offering an exciting hands-on science workshop designed to introduce participants to modern biological research techniques used in laboratories around the world.
This two-day course focuses on immunofluorescence and provides an opportunity to explore how scientists study the nervous system at the cellular level.
Workshop Overview
Participants will investigate questions central to biology and biomedical science, including:
- What are antibodies used for beyond their role in the immune system?
- What effects do environmental agents have on nervous system development?
Using real research techniques, participants will apply antibodies to make the nervous system in fish embryos visible through fluorescence. This method is widely used in biomedical research to visualize structures and better understand how organisms develop.
