STREAM Summer Research Opportunity for Students
Students are invited to apply for the STREAM (Stories and Technology Research Experience: Archive-informed Modeling) summer research program. This program offers a hands-on opportunity for students to engage in archival work, community storytelling, and technology-based research while working at the Medicine Spring Library at Blackfeet Community College.
Participants in the STREAM program will gain valuable experience working with historical materials and community knowledge while also learning technical skills used in modern research environments.
Program Details

Program Dates: May 18 – August 7, 2026
Location: Medicine Spring Library at Blackfeet Community College, Browning, Montana
Compensation: $18 per hour, paid biweekly
Program Responsibilities
Students selected for the STREAM program will:

Digitize archival materials at the Medicine Spring Library

Conduct oral history interviews with community members

Learn computer programming skills

Gain experience using the University of Florida’s HiPerGator supercomputer
This opportunity provides a unique combination of cultural preservation, research, and technology training. Students will contribute to preserving community knowledge while developing practical skills that can support future academic and career opportunities.
Eligibility
Participants must be able to commit to a full-time, on-campus schedule for the duration of the program.
