Blackfeet Community College Launches New Four-Year Secondary Education Degree Pathways

May 18, 2026

Blackfeet Community College is proud to announce the launch of two new four-year degree pathways in partnership with Montana State University through the Education in Montana initiative. These programs are designed to prepare future secondary educators in Broadfield Science and Broadfield Social Studies for grades 5–12 while centering Indigenous knowledge, community values, and culturally grounded education.

Rooted in the Blackfeet value of Ohkanohkimaa—“we all pull together for one goal”—this partnership reflects a shared commitment to developing educators from within the community who are prepared to teach, lead, and inspire future generations.

The Education in Montana pathway creates expanded access to high-quality coursework, advanced content, and meaningful field experiences while allowing students to remain connected to their community and culture. Through this partnership, students will work toward a bachelor’s degree with endorsements in secondary education while engaging in mentorship and learning experiences that reflect Blackfeet ways of knowing, teaching, and learning.

Students enrolled in the program will benefit from:

  • A bachelor’s degree pathway in secondary education in science or social studies
  • Experiential learning opportunities, curriculum development, and Indigenous methodologies
  • Student support services, scholarship opportunities, mentorship, and assistance with cost-of-living expenses

This initiative is designed to strengthen education in Blackfeet Country by supporting future educators who are committed to uplifting youth, strengthening cultural identity, and creating meaningful, lasting impacts in their communities.
