BFCC Recognizes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 13, 2026

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and remind our community that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Blackfeet Community College invites staff and students to participate in National Wear Purple Day, also known as Purple Thursday, by wearing purple to show support for survivors of domestic violence.

Purple represents courage, strength, survival, and hope. By wearing purple, we can help raise awareness, break the silence surrounding domestic violence, and remind survivors that they are not alone.

Recognize. Report. Prevent.

Domestic violence can affect anyone. No one deserves to experience abuse, fear, or control. Every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and loved.

Recognizing the signs of abuse, listening without judgment, and connecting people with support can make a difference. Even a small gesture, such as wearing purple, can open the door to important conversations and encourage someone to seek help.

BFCC encourages students and staff to help create a safer, more compassionate campus community by supporting survivors, raising awareness, and learning about available resources.

Be Part of the Change

This October, BFCC encourages everyone to be the person who listens, supports, and reminds others that they are not alone. Together, we can help break the silence surrounding domestic violence and build a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.

Wear purple on October 15 to stand with survivors and help raise awareness.
