34th Annual Bear River Commemoration

A People Still Standing, a Culture Still Speaking


Call for Presenters

Blackfeet Community College is seeking presentation submissions from individuals or groups with knowledge of the history, background, and present-day implications of the 1870 Bear River Massacre on the Piikani people. This commemoration provides an opportunity to share perspectives on resiliency, cultural strength, and the tools our traditions offer for community healing now and in the future.

Available with Alden Spoonhunter at the Lifelong Learning Office in the Stuck Behind Building (Old Academy).

January 12, 2026, by 4:00 PM or postdated.

Call for Art Show Submissions

Artists are invited to submit artwork that reflects the commemoration theme, “A People Still Standing, a Culture Still Speaking.” Submissions should honor Piikani history, culture, and resilience. Eligible works may include visual art, traditional media, or other creative interpretations aligned with the theme.
