Course Overview

Fundamentals of the Blackfoot Language – Level 1 is an introductory course designed for educators and community members who want to begin learning the Blackfoot (Piikani) language while deepening their understanding of its cultural significance.

This course introduces beginner-level pronunciation, sounds, simple sentence structure, and everyday vocabulary. Participants will also explore how language connects to identity, history, and Piikani ways of knowing, gaining practical tools that support culturally responsive teaching and community learning.

No prior language experience is required.
