Blackfeet Community College has received a substantial gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. The college has been included in a round of major gifts as referenced by Scott’s Medium blog post titled “384 Ways to Help.” Scott is contributing $4,158,500,000 to 384 organizations, which includes the Blackfeet Community College.
Scott’s team of advisors identified organizations that were “operating in communities facing high projected food insecurity, high measures of racial inequity, high local poverty rates, and low access to philanthropic capital.”
Scott’s generous gift will ensure the long-term viability of the Blackfeet Community College. The college will be using these funds to build educational pathways for students, as well as launching sustainability endeavors for the college. These funds will ensure that the college will continue to have a prosperous future.
Blackfeet Community College is truly indebted to Scott’s generosity and will ensure that these funds honor her values of racial equity and economic mobility. This is truly a transformative gift that will have a high impact on educational opportunities for the Blackfeet reservation and surrounding populations. Scott’s historic donation is the largest philanthropic gift that the college has ever received.
Thank you MacKenzie Scott for touching the lives of our students, by creating access and opportunity to higher education, as well as valuing the systems of tribal centered education. MacKenzie Scott’s thoughtful donation has created a pathway to hopeful new beginnings!
